Moose Clothing & WNPS: Fashion for Leopard Conservation in Sri Lanka

(Colombo, Sri Lanka): Sri Lankan leading apparel brand, Moose Clothing Company, is joining forces with the Wildlife and Nature Protection Society (WNPS) to protect the critically endangered Sri Lankan leopard through a series of creative conservation messages. This partnership marks a significant commitment to environmental conservation.

To amplify the conservation message, Moose Clothing launched a limited-edition T-shirt collection in conjunction with Sri Lankan Leopard Day. The collection features striking designs that highlight the majestic beauty of the leopard while underscoring the critical need for its protection. By wearing these T-shirts, consumers can actively participate in raising awareness about the plight of this iconic species.

“Moose Clothing has always been passionate about preserving our planet’s natural heritage. Our partnership with WNPS marks a significant milestone in our journey towards becoming a more sustainable and socially responsible brand. By launching our new leopard conservation t-shirt collection, we aim to not only raise awareness about the plight of Sri Lanka’s iconic leopards but also to actively contribute to their protection. This initiative is our first step towards making a tangible difference in the communities we operate in,” Hasib Omar, Chief Executive Officer of Moose Clothing Company, stated.

The Sri Lankan leopard, a unique subspecies found only on the island, faces a grave threat due to habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, and illegal trade. Classified as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List, its population is estimated to be less than 800 mature individuals.

“We are thrilled to partner with Moose Clothing to take the conservation message far and wide,” said Riaz Cader, Co-Chair of the WNPS Wildcats Subcommittee. “This initiative not only raises awareness but also empowers individuals to become active participants in conservation efforts. By wearing these T-shirts, people can engage in meaningful dialogue about the importance of protecting the Sri Lankan leopard and contribute to a collective effort to ensure its survival.”

The partnership between Moose Clothing and WNPS marks a significant step forward in the conservation of the Sri Lankan leopard. This collaboration aligns with the ongoing multi-regional research efforts by WNPS which aim to develop comprehensive conservation strategies for this magnificent species. By combining the reach of a popular fashion brand with the expertise of a leading conservation organization, the two entities are working together to inspire and mobilize the public in support of this vital cause.
